Romney: “You know, it’s time for the party of big ideas, not the party of Big Brother.” — Patriot Act, Enemy Combatants, FISA violations.
“This is no time for timid, liberal, empty gestures.” — Yes, it’s time for War.
Huckabee: “I’m a Republican because I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life poor, waiting for the government to rescue me.” — He’s right, the government does not rescue people; it invades them, imprisons them, privatizes their social security and health care, and lets them drown.
Palin: “[McCain]’s a man who wore the uniform of his country for 22 years and refused to break faith with those troops in Iraq who now have brought victory within sight.” — Even though those troops favor Barack Obama for president 6 to 1.
“This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting and never use the word “victory,” except when he’s talking about his own campaign.” — Why would anyone use the word ‘victory’ when referring to the Iraq War?
“I guess — I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities.” — Barack Obama was done with community organizing by the time he was 27, and over three years had set up tenants’ rights organizations, trained people for jobs, and set up college tutoring for people on the South Side of Chicago, which was like a post-apocalyptic John Carpenter film back then. He left to go to Harvard Law School. By 27, Palin had gone to college, been a sports reporter for a local TV station, and worked at a fishing store. She also owned a 5th of a car wash, which she forgot to declare later in her political career, and because the license fees hadn’t been paid, the car washed died.
SARAH PALIN KILLED A CAR WASH.
“Al Qaida terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America, and he’s worried that someone won’t read them their rights.” — Maybe she should read up on stories like this.
Giuliani: “On the other hand, you have a resume from a gifted man with an Ivy League education. He worked as a community organizer. What? He worked — I said — I said, OK, OK, maybe this is the first problem on the resume.” — Man, that’s a dickheaded thing to say. Plain and simple. Working within poor communities isn’t good for the resume? He worked with extremely disenfranchised people and trained them for jobs or helped them get into better schools. You’re right, let’s make fun of that.
“He immersed himself in Chicago machine politics.” — Barack worked during Harold Washington’s mayoral campaign, which many point to as bringing about the collapse of the Chicago machine.
“I’m sorry — I’m sorry that Barack Obama feels that her hometown isn’t cosmopolitan enough.” — I wonder what Giuliani would do on the South Side of 1985 Chicago. Kill himself as soon as he stepped off the Green Line? No I know, rather than work with the communities to reduce crime, he’d gentrify the shit out of it and put a Gap store on every corner.
But, hey. In the words of John McCain, We’re All Georgians.
